NGC 7497 peeking through the IFN (MBM 54)

It is a while since I finished an image, but I'm fairly happy with this one now. I always find dusty fields especially challenging.

High res is here: http://www.astrobin.com/full/272652/0/

Thanks for looking. Image details below...

Focuser: Atlas
Filters: Astrodon
Guiding: Lodestar II / Tak guide scope

Terrific stuff Rick! One of the best IFN fields I've ever seen.

Cheers

That's amazing. I agree this is one of the best IFN images I've seen Dramatic stuff, it looks like that galaxy is entangled in dust. Almost like a struggle is going on.

Greeeat shot Rick, t'is a fabulous and thought provoking field this one, the galaxy really looks like it is floating in the dust, bit like the region in Apus around IC4633. The molecular cloud in this field, MBM54, is pretty close in this case so appears quite bright in this area (as far as these type of diffuse nebs go anyway), so makes for a better time with the processing I'd expect, compared to some other similar fields. As usual, you have done a great job on the processing I have seriously considered hitting this field myself but it is juust a bit low from my skies, reaching only about 35deg at the meridian, so one for you foreign scope owners or those further North in Oz I decided

Thanks for the looksee, enjoyed the dusty galactic show

Mike

Rick, that's joyous, stunning, special. The nebulosity would be a great image on it's own. The wealth of small galaxies, most showing form and colour, would be a great photo on their own. You've got near and far together. And the central part of the nebulosity looks like a mist-fire-breathing sea-horse dragon. The stars are its hoarde of jewels.

Thanks, Steve. I've always been keen to give this field a go after seeing it in an APOD.

It's hard to believe they're not connected. Thanks very much, Greg.

Thanks, Mike! Would love to have a go at IC4633/MW9. It's on the list to try with the AP140 from a dark site if I even get a few good nights in a row.

Thanks for the kind comments, M&T. I can see that sea horse dragon quite clearly

Thanks, Suavi, but I think you are being too generous. A perfect image only looks perfect for the first few minutes after you finish it

I had a very pleasing wander around this image Rick, so much to see and the views are quite pleasing
I do agree with MnT, there are many regions in this field that could quite easily make an image of their own.

Thanks, Colin. I've seen a couple of small image scale images of NGC 7497 which came out very nicely, but as you say there are plenty of other options in that field with a long focal length!

What a breathtakingly beautiful image Rick.

Spent quite a while scrolling around the full size version – took me 2 brews of Earl Grey tea to navigate the whole scene and I still wasn’t done.

Cheers

Saw your image on FB too, yeah it's amazing. Very deep. Processing must have been a challenge also.
