NGC 253-dw2 the little galaxy that just keeps on keeping on

This time, its dicovery has seen me spend half a day and night with the crew from SBS's The Feed yesterday, filming a piece for a special on "Citizen Science" that is slotted to run on their Mon 3 October episode. The idea is to present people who have normal day jobs but do science activities in their spare time, so there will be footage at my place of work and out at my observatory, I did an extensive interview, heaps of filming and some great footage from my observatory inside and out...so, if you haven't got anything else to do that day, mark it in your calendar and tune in to SBS The Feed, even if just for a laugh....you may even get to hear me sing under the stars

Well, I did give the BOSS team a plug, so I hope they include that in the final edit

A great result, but ehhhh, please post a reminder to this thread closer to the airing date. I can't remember anything past a few hours of being told something. But it makes me awesome at keeping secrets!

All the best,

Steve

Good on you Mike. I hope they don't be to hard on the edit.
I for one am looking forward to your song.
Anyways old news. Your public await something new. Have you discovered anything new lately.
You are only as good as your last discovery.
Seriously I am so happy for you.
I tell folk about your discovery. They don't believe it at first which says a lot for your feat.
I hope I get to see it.
Fantastic.
Alex

Cheers Simon, Dunk and Alex

All a bit of good fun I recon and from what they gathered while with me, it won't just be about the story of the dwarf spheroidal galaxy I helped bring to light but rather the whole idea of what we do in our game. Hopefully it will provide some interest and entertainment to a few people and let's face it, it could have been any number of us on here featured and many even better examples of Citizen Science going on... but I guess in this instance my colourful and unusual past also helps, as it gives it a different angle and injects some quirky extra interest.

Just mark it on your calendars...if you miss it and I get discovered..?.. ala Paul Potts ....weeeell...don't blame me!

Mike

funny and interesting adventures around your galaxy find!

25 years ago yesterday, Ötzi, the 5250 yr old ice mummy , was found by a German couple Helmut and Erika Simon.
It was 19 years later, after a long debate before court, that they got awarded their finder's fee of €175.000, 55.000 of which were lawyers' fees.
Helmut Simon was already dead by then.

Even rumours of a Curse of the Ice Mummy have blossomed - you know, like Tut Ankh Amun and those inexplicable deaths of people who found that grave in Egypt?

Apparently, 9 people involved with the find or examination of Otzi have died ...Including Helmut Simon

You should be relieved that you found a galaxy and not a mummy even though you probably don't get a finder's fee.
