10 second subs on Lagoon

For those curious about the new cams - here's a first light for my ASI1600 mono-cooled from last Wednesday night. Very pleased with first efforts, though for some reason my TSX guiding sucked, maybe the target was getting too low on the horizon.

This is a major milestone for me, as it is my first ever full LRGB image from my own cam (been practicing along the way with other data, e.g. Hubble).

Had some weird black pixels on the images even after calibration, had to use Pixinsight's Cosmetic Correction to fix, so another learning there.

This is the grand total of FIVE exposures of TEN (10) seconds for each of the four filters. Not bad sensitivity eh? Unity Gain at 139, taken with the Tak E-130D from my backyard.

I have another set of 40 second shots to process, then plenty of Ha and a couple of SII, ran out of time unfortunately.

For such a short integration it has turned out pretty good! At Unity gain I believe Glenn uses 60s LRGB so you're probably under exposing a bit there but it is still a good test run

What could have been causing the cosmetic issues is only having 5 subs. At 10s the SNR is going to be pretty low in many areas so any variance in noise over those 5 subs could be coming through and being removed.

Glad that you're out under the stars with our own data to play with!

Thanks chaps. Colin I deliberately exposed at 10 to see if I could grab the star colours quickly at a nice saturation. Proven.

Will be processing the 40 seconds subs next, then the 5 min Ha

Ha, I'm past that Rick. But with this little photon sucker, one target per night, LRGBHaSIIOIII will do me
