Cats Paw Ha, advice please

This is my 1st attempt at 20 min exposures and considering the conditions up here, i.e. temperature and a continual smoke haze, I'm pleased with the result.

7x20min Ha, moravian g28300, flt 132

Not too sure where to go from here, reports are conflicting.

Do i combine with LRGB, (is L necessary or can i use the Ha as L)
or do i go narrowband with OIII and SII

Why not try both ways and see what you like?

Lovely detail, and a nice field.
I'm with Chris, try it both ways. A complete data set has to be a good thing anyway, and then you can mix and match for a great result.

Looking forward to seeing it. Well done - Trevor

Definitely narrowband. HaLRGB images of this object tend to all red boring images.

In narrowband though it can be quite vibrant. Same with NGC6357 the Lobster. Do short exposures LRGB for the stars only but don't spend a lot of time there. Maybe half an 60mins should do it (3 x 5minutes each).

Greg.

Nice start George.
I agree with Greg, HaRGB can look a bit monochromatic on this one.
Slawomir did what imo must be the definitive NB version of this last year, so maybe search for it on IIS as a reference image for inspiration
There's bugger all O3 in this thing, so it's a challenging target in NB as well!
Cheers
Andy

Try both LHaRGB and SIIHaOIII as both con produce a great final result with different processing challenges thrown at you in each case

A great start there with the Ha but one thing I would suggest is that the current presentation has no bright highlights and this flattens the image, there are bright bits in each paw that give the neb some depth

Mike

Lots of differing opinions here, looks like i will go with lots of data over all filters.
Mike, i had only done a basic processing of the image but thanks for the suggestion, i wouldn't have known, all help is appreciated, i have revised it
slightly
