Just got back from Parkes....and it was a delight to see many old and new faces at this year's CWAS/Malin's.....and my thanks to John Sarkissian and the CWAS team and Canon for making it Australia's premiere Astro-imaging event.

David's frank and fearless and often humorous commentary was delightful.

Hats off to Troy for getting the overall gong....his attention to detail is remarkable!

I was delighted to finally get a gong for Deep Sky ...as I've come close in the past, but now having ticked the Deep Sky box, only need to produce an aesthetic animation to complete the set (might have to take a contract out on Phil and Alex in the interim)

Congrats to the other section winners and HM placegetters. All well deserved.

Now.... what do for 2017?

Yes it was a pleasant event and I thought David's critiques were very spot on and I learnt a few things from it.

Image standards are now so extremely high, it has to be considered one of the best competitions in the world. Its also extremely competitive.

Greg.

Yep congratulations to all the winners.

Great effort from Troy to take the overall win two years in a row and great work by the 'usual suspects' who manage to pick up gongs year after year which is a testament to their skill and dedication.

I agree that the standard of images (and videos) continues to improve. Great work everyone!

Congratulations to all the winners and mentions! It remains an ambition to get to that level, but the standard is pretty extraordinary so it's not going to get any easier

Congratulations to all the other winners, so many awesome shots.
I was a bit chuffed to pick up the Nightscape Gong, plus the HM in the Animated and the Editors Choice in the LightPollution section..
Long way to go to match some of the tallest shown though..

Stephen Humpleby

P.S. couldn't make it to Parkes as i was supposed to have a shoulder app (which still hasn't happened,, ggggrrr)

Congratulations to Troy who won the overall for the second year in a row. I don't think anyone has done that before, so that should be seen as extraordinary.

Congratulations to all the other winners of the categories and to those who picked up HM's.

Well done to those who ended up with HC's.

I am very happy to have placed again for the ninth year in a row. The competition is harder than ever to place at all it seems. As ever I still wonder what David really likes, just when I think I have what he likes, I am once again proven wrong. In any event the competition continues to attract more and more competitors with more and more producing exceptional works. It's a better competition than it was 5 years ago and I am sure it will be better again in the years to come.

I found David's critique of the images quite educational. He gave some very good critiques with examples of what he meant.

I personally liked all the winning entries as well. They also seemed to me to be the best in their categories.

Greg.
