NGC4945 and friends

Clear night again tonight, so making the most.
NGC4945, NGC4976, and about 18 or so PGC catalogue background galaxies that I could count. Not a perfect image, bit of gradient, but I'm having fun.

Nice. Good colour contrast between the galaxy and the two bright blue stars.

Your version with xi 1 and xi 2 both in the image works better as an image than if xi 2 is just out of frame and wrecking everything with stray light.

Wow. that's a beauty Troy, well composed - a great outcome from your fun

One thing, recon 4945 looks just a little dull?..it is a dusty galaxy I guess?....just musing

Excellent image

Mike

Very nice Troy. A nice combination of a rich star-field, bright stars and of course the galaxies. Well composed

Cheers guys. I'm quite enjoying taking some of these wider field galaxy shots. Understandably they're normally taken with longer focal lengths tighter in on the galaxy, but sometimes I like seeing the surrounding area for context/interest.

Fair point. Might play with a bit of a repro over the weekend. I have some Ha now to add to it, too.

Really nice composition Troy. I also like those bright blue stars against the dusty yellow galaxies.

What focal length was this shot at?

Cheers mate. Oh yeah! Part of the reason I'm trying to take advantage of the few nights in a row clear late this week. Been tinkering/testing some image capture and processing techniques. Considering mosaics.

Thanks mate. 506mm focal length, with the KAF8300 gives about 2.2 degrees FOV.
