Thank you all for very kind feedback. I was entertaining an idea of continuing with this mosaic and turning it into a tri-colour image, but I changed my mind after I saw Mike and Trish's excellent image of NGC3603. So an image of NGC3603 will be my next photo...already got over 3 hours of Ha
Greg, 2 or 3-minute subs work quite well with my gear and bright nebulae, such as the Carina. Usually I stick to 10-minute (or 15-minute on dimmer objects) subs though. I think shorter than usual narrowband subs work well for me because ICX814 has reasonably low read noise. In the past I experimented with much longer subs, up to one hour, but field rotation would often become evident in longer subs and I did not see any real benefits in such long subs.
