no colour

not sure whats going I seem not to get any colour when stacking images last night I took 10 x 5 min images for each rgb filter at f/5.7 on 10inch gso rc thinking I should get a bit more colour from 5 min exp but still no colour. I used fits liberator to covert tiffs when photoshop to stack the images. need some help please.

It looks like the subs haven't been aligned correctly. It might be worth while downloading DeepSkyStacker and using its routine. The stars do have colour but they're not lining up, red one side and blue the other.

The background nebulosity has the correct red tinge to it

Thanks I have used Dss before but don't like the soft finished look when saved too tiffs. Yes haven't align images yet in the corners but still get the same result if aligned

Hi Shane,
I had a go with your picture but couldn't get much colour out of it either
even when increasing the saturation - except for Red.
I wonder if you have stretched the original data properly?
FITS liberator gives you a choice of many different stretching formulas.
The Red seems to be there but the Green & Blue are way down in level.
In DSS you can create a .reg file for each stack of RGB
which will automatically align the final stacked RGB frames.

I think if you experiment you'll get it to work.
I can't do much with the small jpeg picture.
Your original data should be saved in FITS & not TIFF from a mono camera.

thanks allan I have tried dss into red geen blue files and still same problem might look at fits liberator again and see if that's the problem. cheers

I suspect the filter wheel is jammed and you are shooting through the same filter

maybe I need longer subs to bring out the colours mmmm not sure . maybe try my dslr see if thrers any change

you could be right peter because I did damage the cable between the filter wheel and camera the other night.

Quick inspection of the individual RGB data frames will quickly reveal whether the filters changed position or not.

A subsequent RGB combine that has a slight overall tint but no varied colour
is very indicative of that.........I've been there myself in the past.
