I guess I chuck in a positive comment here...

Purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 docking station (discontinued model, consequently none in Australia), sent it to my father's house (Colorado) and he mailed it to me.

Dec 7 (USA) -> Dec 19 (AU). Handoff between USPS and AusPost must have worked well...

Priority International U$39.40

OIC!

Item purchased USA on Nov 2. Item posted USA Priority International on Nov 3. As of Dec 21, still no show. Tracking stops at US point of departure.

Paid Paypal,so funds are covered, but that's not the point, considering how scarce the item is.

I think you can kiss that one goodbye Lewis! Was it an old Tak accessory?

In the meantime, another vote for Kokusai Kohki (Barry Gooley) and EMS Japan, in 4 days and 7 hours, they managed to get some nice 'Ricoh' eyepieces to my door, in fact the postie turned up at 8.55pm last night!

Meh that's terrible Lew.

I was lucky, my daughter wanted me to order her a gift for her brother online from NY city.
It was ordered on the 7th Dec, via USPS, arrived on the 18th Dec (Aust Post delivery)!
In plenty of time for Christmas.

Just lucky I suppose, I was a bit worried it wouldn't make it on time.

How about this. I ordered a lens for my Canon from Japan, posted on 18/12, and arrived midday today. 4 days, brilliant.

Austpost have always been "OK" for me.....

Except this time...

Item posted to me on Wednesday last week.
Not a sausage until Sunday where it turned up at chullora dist centre.
Monday it showed up in the suburb next to where it was posted but nowhere near me.
Raised a query which got it sent back to chullora allegedly en route to my address.
Yay!
Except it is now at the same incorrect post office en route back to chullora.
A further query has not been responded to - I suspect out of sheepishness.
I hope it gets here before somebody drops it.

Hopefully it will turn up soon, I heard a rumour that the Aust Post guys at Chullora Distribution Centre were having their last Dark Sky night for the year last weekend down near Eastern Creek, it might have been used there.

I have to say all good experiences here. Maybe it is the regional setting. I know my postman and my delivery man by name, and they know mine. The delivery man is great and always hides parcels behind a chair on my verandah... and my postman will got out of his way to deliver a letter (including doubling back, coming up my driveway etc).

Sent a guidescope (converted Tak finder), Lodestar and EP's off to Astronomy Alive in Melbourne about 2 weeks ago (same time as a Pack N Send package with FSQ telescope in it, which arrived 2 days later). No show still according to Cris Ellis. That's a LOT to replace!!! Just gut-wrenching!

I just hope I can find the damned docket!

Never had a problem with Australia Post in all the years of posting and receiving photographic, model engineering, astronomy parts/equipment and I am now 65, hope their excellent service continues. Never had a problem with Pack & Send as well, might be a bit expensive at times but very professional.

It's not if it will happen, it's when.

(Insurance won't help if they say it's delivered.)

That is when your screwed.

It gets more bizarre every day..... I just checked a ' tracking number ' on the Aust' Post for an item I'm expecting and it says it was delivered at 7.07am this morning.

What a load of crap ... nothing has arrived at all, let alone a Postal Van.

Come 8am and I will be on the phone to ask .... please explain...!!

Australia Post Help Desk ..... Call 13 POST (13 76 78) from within Australia

They CANNOT be trusted

Very common in my experience. We get stuff "Delivered" all the time according to the tracking, the only thing remaining for us to do then being drive in to town (5 minutes away) to actually get our hands on our "Delivered" item.

The other common one for us is "Attempted delivery, no one home" which is courier code for "Can never be bothered stopping on my way from Kilmore to Lancefield so I dumped it at the Kilmore post office"
