NGC2029 Dragons Head nebula in the LMC - BiColour

NGC2029 is basically an emission nebula in the LMC. (reading imaging the Southern sky, apparently its the 2nd brightest in the LMC..wonder what the other one is ).

In the frame though there are a few other interesting objects such as NGC2014 and NGC2020 down the bottom left, one nebula where mostly Hydrogen is being ionised by the young stars hence the red, and NGC2020 which is the Bluish bubble type nebula caused by ionisation of mostly oxygen due to the single Wolf-Rayet star thought to be in there being incredibly hot. Theres quite a few open clusters in the FOV as well

10 Ha subs at 20 mins and 10 Oiii also at 20 mins
Sbig STL6303e stuck on the back of a GSO RC8

Processed as LRGB (Ha,Ha,Oiii,Oiii) using Pixinsight.

Likely I will be chasing more data and certainly RGB for the stars over the next few weeks.

Very nice David.

This is my favourite nebula in the LMC. Its an amazing combination of interesting nebulas and you have done it very well.

Thank you for that David! A new way of looking at this area for me. I can clearly see the dragon's head with its bulbous eyes and dangerous teeth. And thanks for the astrophysical explanation about the WR.

If it's not NGC 2070, then maybe it's NGC 1763?

Nice looking image, not sure about the dragon's head but I can clearly see Jar Jar Binks!

Thanks Mike. Apparently its also known as the Seagull but Dragon seems more apt.

Cheers Andy. I really must remember to use the tongue in cheek icon rather than the shrug. I think NGC2070 is the brighter one for the record.

Detail and resolution looks good David. Perfect field of view for these objects.

Your stars have some odd shapes though, some tip and tilt with the weight of the STL on the back I would think.

Thanks Paul, theres a bit of a crop in here though.
On the star shapes, I think I have an issue with the way I did image registration as the single subs looked ok. Will take another look and thanks for calling it

Such an interesting area that Dave, the contrasting shapes are about the best in the LMC I recon, nice work for a Bi Colour image too, it's hard to get just two channels to come together and look good but you have done pretty well here

Thanks Mike, was a lucky pick up with the whirlpool like nebulosity at the bottom, wasn't expecting that, but it's a great area to image in.
