Hot?! Nah!

The ABC news banner helpfully displays your local temperature, in near real-time.

Today, sleepy Adelaide hit 36 degrees C.

The ABC thinks it felt a tad warmer than that...!

Do you think it's a typo? I've never seen such a dramatic difference between what the temperature is and what it feels like.

The BOM's feels like temps are a load of poo dung at the best of times. For example, look at the Renmark obs today. Apparently 36C feels like 22C.

Never miss an opportunity to have a dig at me

So you go outside on a 36C day, regardless of the dewpoint and wind, and you are going to agree that it feels like 22C? Get real.

Context. That's exactly right. And that's why any "Feels like" temperature is a load of garbage. Dew point is one of many factors. And don't forget the observer themselves. How much body fat, have they eaten, are they tired or well rested, bearded or not, sofa spud or mountaineer, etc etc.

Wind chill factors I find most hilarious. Because at minus 20 wind chill but plus 5 actual I'm comfortable in regular outdoorsey clothes, but at minus 20 actual the snot in my noze freezes. Why is that I ask.
