Heads up on Joops!!!

Guys,

Just a quick heads-up.

Might wanna turn the scopes and cams in the direction of old Jove from shortly after 8 tonight with the Io (and shadow) transit and GRS from about 9-30.

10pm looks good to catch GRS ... Io and shadow.

It'll be nice and high in the sky and hopefully the Weather Gods will smile on us all

Get some nice avi's and still be early to bed!

How can you tell when an astromoner is getting edgy for some clear skies?

When he drives 3/4 of an hour through a thunder storm to the dark site with his fingers crossed, knowing that even when he gets there and its clear the dew is going to get him anyway.

Aka [1ponders] last night The company was great though.

Scope cooling. Skies look nice. No wind. Very little cloud. Jet stream ... not bad.

Check collimation.

Bring it on!!!!!

Hang in there vash. Just a bit of warm moist air meeting cooler air. Let all the moisture condense. Might come good

Well, I've just been out with the scope and camera. It was a little better than I expected, (it has been raining with a bit of thunder a few hours ago) on the camera screen I could make out Jups banding, and even a dark splodge where the shadow was. Took a few images, might process them tomorrow arvo if I find time.

I have bizzare weather. 2 hours ago it was hazy. 1 hour ago it was a perfect starfield, Miky Way, Madge's Clouds etc but it was raining! Yep, raining!! Not mist or Dew. Real rain and not a cloud from horizon to horizon!!!! Never seen it before ever.

And now it's cloudy. Some nights ya just can't win.
