Moonstruck

OK I did take a couple of snaps last weekend just to have a crack at it.
This was done using my 1000D and BackyardEOS planetary imaging mode.
The moon would not fit in the one frame so this is my first stacked planetary image and my first stitch job. 1000 frames for each half into Registax 6, selected for the best 400 frames and stacked them. Stitched in Microsoft ICE. Could get to like doing these - I will have to try the 2" big barlow for the next one.

I can return the compliment; very nice. What gear did you use for the
moon to not fit in the frame?

Thanks Pete, Raymo and Dunk.
Raymo - I have investigated more function is the Backyard EOS software and found the settings for planetary imaging uses a X5 live view function that is native in the Canon cameras - this according to the developer gives a pixel for pixel JPG image with no up or down sampling involved, so in effect, you have a smaller sensor and thus magnification of the image. BYEOS outputs this JPG stream as an AVI file ready for stacking in registax or similar. Adding a barlow to this will get me even closer with my little refractor.

Thanks for the info Bruce. Up to now all my lunar stuff is single frame.
I've never used BYEOS since I got it 18 months ago. I don't even know what
up and down sampling is. I haven't used PS since I got it either[ except for
downsizing pics for posting here.]

I must admit I love BYEOS - yes you will need to have a laptop out there but there is nothing better than focusing with a 14" screen.
