Yet another NGC6188

Few clear nights, little data and a very frustrated user behind the processing.....

That's superb Raki. The details are outstanding. I like the HST palette best.

The first one is super. Great stars and details. I like that little yellow and magenta region. Still a bit blue though.

What was the setup used and the exposure details?

Greg.

Lovely Raki, commented in Flickr. Both versions have impact.

Raki...I've poured over the Flickr version all morning...

...maaaaaaate. This is a new benchmark IMHO.

Filigree stars, delicate dust lanes, superbly controlled SII data...I think it makes most previous renditions (self included) look like crayons on the fridge.

While you may not get hundreds of hits on IIS....you've certainly blown me away.

Fantastic.

Keep 'em coming.

Thank you Peter, I don't know about the image but your comment have certainly blown me away. This area looks pretty good in almost anything you throw at it. I am a big fan of pure b&w in Ha around this area.

This is a tough region in my opinion to get the colour balance looking good. And; I am not certain the region lends itself well to narrow band. I have imaged it twice (once very recently) in NB and neither version I am happy with. I had an idea of what I wanted to achieve and felt I did not get anywhere near it.

So with that in mind I am uncertain about your colour scheme. The Hubble palette is probably the most interesting of the two images.

I do however, like the field of view, composition and detail. I think the processing is slick with a smooth background.

They are both exceptional but my preference is for the second.

That is no doubt a reflection of my prejudice against the hubble palette... it consistently elicits a sense of cognitive dissonance in me. I cannot get past the idea that hydrogen is red, sulfur is yellow, nitrogen is blue and oxygen aquamarine.

Thanks Paul, I think I can relate to some of your comments. For example personally I can also say the same for the Prawn nebula. I usually start with Ha. I remember I was initially blown away by the amount of Ha in both of these two targets. But subsequently found S2 and O3 data much harder to collect and process and balance against Ha. This is probably the fact for most targets as I haven't tried many targets as yet. Colour usually don't bother me much and a lot of the time I find pure Ha more interesting than colour images.

Well, my wife likes the "purple one" but I like them both. The detail is there and is most excellent.

Well done, Raki!

excellent Raki, I was going to say I like the 'traditional' version the most but the second has grown on me.

Yep, my preference goes to the more tradition version, even if I am not a big fan of narrow band palette I have to say that this object is particularly photogenic with this technique. Nice image
