Custom made metal bars

I am adding a counterweight to my AZ3 and have all the required parts however I need a custom made Aluminium plate (maybe around 5-6mm thick).

Anyone know of a place or better yet anyone here that provide these sorts of items?

Stefan,

I know some aluminium suppliers have the capabilities to cut Al plate to shape with CNC machines........sure, it costs $$ but it may be worthwhile pursuing that avenue.

Stefan,

If you're trying to emulate what was in that article that I linked you yesterday then I reckon the same thing could be achieved by bending piece of 6mm alu bar in a vice and then cutting to length and drilling a couple of holes. Hardest part appears to be working out the correct angle?

Maybe start by acquiring the aluminium from somewhere like Capral in Barry rd campbellfield ? Not sure if they do short lengths but maybe they have offcuts available?

This would be the easiest solution (http://www.bintel.com.au/Accessories...oductview.aspx) but it's just way too expensive for a hunk of metal.

Yup, too much and it's more satisfying to diy. If I end up needing a counterweight with the little 130p I'll be surprised but will let you know what I come up with should that be the case.

Agreed.

I found a bar on eBay but I hate waiting to get it, I want it now! Plus long weekend coming up so great to do this little mod.

I looked on Bunnings but they don't much, hoping there is another place I can go to after work or tomorrow.

Might be better off with a thinner piece of mild steel? Check Robot Building Supplies etc.
