IC 2944 in Ha

Hi all,
I'd like to share my first light image with my new GSO RC 10" truss.
Only 4 x 30 min Ha subs with darks, with curves and dead pixel removal the only processing.
Top left corner shows my collimation needs to be tweaked, but over all I'm pretty happy with how the scope, and especially the mount, has performed. I do plan on adding more Ha along with some O3 once these clouds bugger off.
Larger version can be found here http://www.astrobin.com/169856/0/
This is also my first excursion outside of the beginners forum, so be gentle!
Thanks for looking!
Chris

Boom! Now that's a first light! 30min subs from a tripod against a deep southern target, ballsy! Once the collimation is sorted you'll be rocking some cool stuff. Pretty sharp details too.

Nicely done Chris!

I like sharp details too

As an experiment, try stretching this image more aggressively and see if you can pull out some fainter stuff.

Your tracking is top notch.

Pin point stars and clean non-clipped Bok globules. Excellent result.

Cheers Slawomir! I had a go at stretching the image a bit more and used some slight noise reduction within Nebulosity, what do you think? http://www.astrobin.com/169856/B/

Cheers Rus. 30 min subs is the way to go - I've never worked with such smooth data before!

Much appreciated Mike. Getting right in close to image Bok's was one of the main reasons for going the bigger, longer focal length scope.

Haha cheers Jeremy! The 6" is a great scope to learn the ropes on how these scopes operate. You can have first dibs on the 10" when I decide to go bigger again

Thanks again to all for the comments

Well done, Chris! I personally like modifying histogram and applying different stretches to the same data. NASA's FITS Liberator (free software) can also help with achieving a balanced stretch.
