Eta Carinae

Details in the flickr page. Would like to know how to convert a pink/salmon object to deep red, have done numerous PS tweaks to get it to this stage.

my 430mm FL scope loves this object, perfect FoV!

'Merry Easter', have a great break with long clear nights.

Tell ya what Simon, the overall look of this image at modest viewing size is really impressive, I really like the composition and the whole nebula has rarely looked so dramatic, so well done on this.

I think the only thing stopping this from being a real corker is that you have flattened the highlights a bit and over dimmed the Keyhole area and maybe skewed the curves a bit too..?

But don't get me wrong, it looks bloody good regardless

Mike

I especially like way you've done the wispy, hair-noodle bits up near the Gabriela Mistral nebula. You've processed it in a way that shows its kinship to the Tarantula. I like that - a different take.

Very dramatic, Simon. Still needs some work to get it looking great at full res, as Mike mentioned, but a cracker at lower res.

Thanks chaps, yes I find the combining of whispy Ha data with RGB a challenge, esp as yes I tried to emphasize the lovely 'noodle' bits up top as picke up by Placidus. On long cloudy winter nights I might try a reprocess or 4

That's the trouble with this hobby, Simon. I keep looking back at images a year old and thinking how much better I could make them if I had time

Great looking photo Simon.

So much detail. I can clearly make out all the smaller regions of interest.

Nice composition.

Ross.
