Jupiter 15may neximage 14"sct

Hi everyone,
Here is shot of Jupiter when seeing was only 5/10 captured at 5 fps. One thing Asi and I noticed that the Toucam could use a faster shutter speed than the Neximage with everything else the same pritty well. Also the Neximage with capture at 10 and 15 fps would show horizontal lines across the image where the Toucam would not. Although these are supposed to be identical cameras we think somehow the Toucam is more light sensitive.

Yes Asi,

To view this image I had to open the curtains and go out side the house, looks good from about 5 metres. I only remembered half of what you showed me last night, and I forgot to resize it down.

Okay Mr Asimov,

I just processed this one enough to apply the knock out punch, of course I am a biased referee.

Okay mate,

Its getting a bit cold out side to view the computer screen, so I scaled this one down like I was told last night, can't remember who told me.

Heres the one I got with the extension tube Lester, the seeing was not up to it as we know. Must have restacked this one 5 different ways, looking best by stacking 101 frames.

Well that doesn't surprise me you added the arroma of onion in that one.

All jokes aside Asi, I do like your colouring better than mine and the edges are more crisp. I think it is your processing skills that are showing up more so than the camera characteristics. Does your 15fps shot show onion rings to a high degree, koz mine does.

Here it is. This is the one where I mentioned I could actually see the onion rings on screen as I was capturing? This is a real quick stack & process. 211 frames stacked. You can get it slightly better onion ring wize by stacking less frames, but still noticable.

Hi Asi,

Well as far as fine detail goes I think the 15fps wins and bearing in mind that it was rush processed it could even be better.

I will try a 15 fps some time today as well.

Have a good one mate.

Oh darn,

just checked my Avis and I had deleted all the 15fps shots yesterday koz they were so bad with onion rings=much worse than yours Asi. So I am doing a 10 fps extentiontube 2x barlow version.

Sorry to keep you waiting,

This is the best detail I could get. To lessen the onion rings I had to lower the contrast and increase the brightness which washed out the detail.

Don't view your screen from any closer than 1 metre and it looks okay to me.

Comments welcome as I am still learning the processing with so many variations.

Pity about the onions. Nice shot considering the conditions.

Eventually you will come up with a set of rules, or guide lines to follow as far as processing go's. Until you become totally familiar with all the options at your disposal, your doing the right thing by fiddling & trying different things!

Well done I reckon...I was expecting far worse images than what we got!

Thanks Asi,

Will have another shootout soon.

At midday I thought tonight might be a goer, then the clouds came in. Just looked out the window and WOW they are breaking up again.

Hope you got your baby in the chiller. I am off to pack mine in ice.

Have a good one.
