Much better seeing when the clouds drifted away. Lucky to get this as I had closed the roof up and decided to retire when a midnight supper delayed me enough to have a final look before bed and it had cleared.

Thanks Trevor, it sure did. This is my best data for 2015 so far and I've plenty more to keep me busy for a while. It'll be a few days before I need another imaging fix. Unless of course its good again tonight.

Thanks Rusty, I'm no pro when it comes to this but I'm really impressed with the lower noise and I'm sure the global shutter improves individual frame quality. I'm able to push the processing much higher than I was able to with the ASI120MM-S. I doubt I'll ever need the full frame that it's capable of unless I use it for Sola, and I'll need a better observatory PC to match.

Thank you John it's definitely my best ever. I'm glad the ASI174MM turned up just in time as I doubt it would have been as good with the ASI120mm-S. Although seeing is 90% of any good image I'm told.

For me, with my Equipment, it seems almost impossible to get that kind of image quality.

What kind of telescope do you use?

And what does it look like on-screen when you are capturing the images?

The detail in these are something else - nice work. The asi174 and processing are working very nicely.

Hi oernulfs, I have a Meade 356mm 14" telescope, 2.5" Moonlite focuser, Orion USB filter wheel (soon to changed to an Atik EFW2 8x1.25" wheel) Astrodon filters, ASI174MM Camera.
The attached image shows a red capture in below average seeing and you can also see the settings I use. For planetary imaging aperture is very important. My 14" has a area of 154sq" but with a secondary of 5" it is a general purpose scope. My new scope will be 20" an area of 314 sq" with a secondary of 4.5" a much better %.

Thanks Bob, the hours spent are starting to pay off. I hope within the next year I'll feel like I'm more in command of the scope and not the other way round
