Comet Lovejoy - luminance data Thursday 15 January 2014

I have finally had a go at Comet Lovejoy (seems like everyone else has anyway ) with the FSQ106 and QSI683.

This set is 6x 60 seconds and I had to do a lot of processing to bring out the tail. I did two stacks, one on the comet and one on the star field. I layer masked the comet on top of the star field and then did lots of other stretching etc and contrast enhancement.

I learnt from this that 60 second subs was not enough. So last night I did 2 minute subs on luminance. Also I left the scope out longer to cool down as 1 hours was not enough to prevent focus shift during the very short run of subs.

Colour is yet to follow as I don't have any flats at 2x2. I need to get those tonight to finish off the image sets. However for now I thought you might like to see my attempt.
