Look stunning!

Just curious - should the halo around Alnitak be symmetrical??

Ta Steve. What do you mean "almost" ??

BTW I like it.
Thanks Paul.

Ta Fred. If you have a close look at the flame Nebula, you can see the dark nebula in front has a decidedly different structure....not something I've picked up on before.

Ta...the asymmetry is normal, as the halos are not in focus.

Well contrast is extremely well done with great detail and composition! only 2 hours exposure is a real bummer but does show how good your skills and equipment are.... I do hope you get more exposure on It.

ps not too thrilled about the work around the flame dude, the transition from the strong central detail to the out edges is not good.

Thanks mate...BTW the flame stuff is real. I only apply global filters (i.e. no selective masking) to "preserve the light" as someone once said

There seems to be a high contrast structure to the flame itself, which is being obscured by a fuzzy foreground dust cloud that extends to the right.

Reminds me of Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein...."I have a halo ?!! (hump)" "What halo! ?"
