Earth's umbra

This moon trail I made during the eclipse traces out a picture of the Earth's umbra. It is composed of about 400 HDR images.

To be honest. I was actually at first. "What in the blue hell is this?"
After taking a double-take I realized that this is actually a brilliant picture. Well done indeed.

nice job steven - that's a lot of images! I find it kind of confusing though, as it doesn't appear as total (umbra) in the middle at the top?

Image Combination

Great shooting Steven.

And I hope you don't mind but I did a quick combination of your image with the details from Fred Espenak's TLE detailed PDF [thanks Fred ] which I think shows how perfectly you have captured the event.

There is a very slight rotation of the PDf data [< 2 degrees] and I have removed the Umbra colour to show more of your details.

Chris

Well done Steven. When I first saw this in council a month ago I knew straight away what is was. My immediate thoughts were; "what a brilliant idea" and I still think this. I was anticipating that this was going to trump my win with Fox in the Mist. Great concept and execution.
