NGC1760 Bean Nebula - Bi Colour

NGC1760 is parked quite happily in the LMC, just across the way from the Spider, and its huge. Its a very active star forming area and if you like scale, with my setup I can "just" get M42 in the FOV, and that's 1500 light years away. This little sucker, even with a 50% crop, if 160,000 light years away. The cluster in the center is NGC1761, 50 of the biggest stars in the LMC.

This is my first crack at NB bicolour and yes, its a bit mono... When I searched here I found Freds take on this which is just awesome but this object doesn't come up much on Bing/google apart from Annie Astro and a Gendler image

Freds version is pretty speccy huh? but you have some excellent detail there David, remines me of a close up of NGC 604 in M33 Might be nice to collect some colour data to incorporate though? You could blend the narrowband data with the colour data, could be a beauty

It can really work well, I was forced to do it when I was imaging under severe light pollution and poor seeing - for example, these are both HaOIIIRGB blends

Orion Nebula

Eta Carina

I would blend the OIII data with the blue and green and the Ha with the red and the Blue then use a hybrid Lum made with The OIII and Ha...then a bit of fiddling but it works

Like it David - lots of nice detail but I agree with Mike. A bit of RGB and OIII could be really effective.

Nicne work David. Check your bicolour colour combine formula with that shown on Neil Fleming's site which works very well. A bit brown and there should be some blues in there with the Neil Fleming formula. A lot done right there. Great tight stars and detail

Sorry to hijack your thread David but Mike - would it be ok if I ask you to elaborate on this technique you mentioned? Your results in the examples posted are amazing and I'm sure that there are many of us imaging in NB from the 'burbs, (David included) that would benefit from your experience.

Well...pretty much what I said there ...the exact process is now lost in the creative backwater neurons of my brain

Trying various strength blends and combine ratios is the way to practise...that's what I did ..I used to post every version along the way but soon learned that this was pretty boring for everyone

Thanks for that. NGC2070 was becoming a bit of a ritual so it was nice to go hunting for something new.

Cheers Greg. Will take a look at Neils site tonight whilst hopefully grabbing some RGB if the weather holds as this will benefit by the sounds of things.

Yup, loud and clear gents. Steve I actually did grab the Oiii but have lost it in the blending process. Looking forward to playing with more blending later

Thanks for that Mike. Will be playing with data this week I hope. Just starting to understand the various possibilities with the NB and RGB based on everyones feedback. This is gonna be fun
