polar alignment scope accessory

I have an old canon right angle view finder that many years ago I used to focus my 350D on stars. Its long been collecting dust in the cupboard and when i found it the other day, I thought it could be useful to make looking through the polar alignment scope of my NEQ6 much more comfortable. So I raked around my accessories and found a celestron 1.25" visual back (see photos) ,part of which could be made to fit on the "draw tube" end of my polar alignment scope .I then with a large metal washer and plenty of epoxy resin glue married the two. Now i have a convenient / comfortable method of looking through my polar alignment scope. Pictures of its assembly are shown below including one of it attached to my EQ5 clone. The third picture shows the thread cut off the visual back and washer glued on. Fourth and fifth picture show right angle view finder attached to modified visual back.

Glad you reminded me. I have a Pentax right angle finder that I bought to put on my NEQ6 polar scope. There is a thread somewhere on it. However, I find I just don't use the polar scope at all, instead use the polar alignment routine in Synscan V 3.3 and its spot on.

I agree , I've never had to use my polar alignment scope , I drift align. Last did it 2 yrs ago, have an observatory piered mount. However for a portable mount first setup would make the polar alignment scope more useful with the right angle scope .
