Smile My best ever Corona Australis, new data & repro.

Quite excited with this image!.

It's a result of some mods I made to my 8" astrograph, it's certainly made a difference with the amount of detail I'm getting.

I've nearly eliminated flexure in the optical system and have quite accurate optical alignment.
Certainly way better than I've ever had before!!

Stars are quite small now but still not perfect, I think this due to guiding.
Another polar alignment and a final tweak with the guiding and it should be humming.

I've supplied a crop as well to show the detail.
Also a link to a previous image to show the difference.

8" F/4 astrograph HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.

Unmodded canon 1100D, baader type III coma corrector.

30 x 5 minute subs, ISO 1600 and 5 x 2 minutes ISO 800'

Stacked in DSS, processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

You should be happy
Good work
Hard to criticise miniscule trailing.
I think you will work hard to improve upon
Best wishes for next one

That's excellent. I think you can safely boost the saturation right up.

Well done, Justin. Perhaps a little dark? I'm sure you can squeeze a bit more out of it.

Cheers,
Rick.

Well, looks like the clouds have left SA.

Fine result Justin, you've bought out the dust nicely there.

Well done

Yep no worries, as long as you take the cold temps too!

Yep, will post the repro.
I've been playing around and even though there's good data it's quite difficult to push it much further without it looking overdone.

Repro.

Hi,

Here's a repro of the Corona Australis complex.

A little more colours saturation, brightness and contrast as suggested by Marc and Rick.

I did a dozen different versions but I think this one is best?

Cheers,

Justin.

The repo is nice. I'm always wondering how much colour to give it.

Corona Australis seems to be a little more difficult to get the colour balance right.

Cheers,

Justin.
