First ever night photos

I'm a bit out of my depth compared to most of the amazing photo's here, but I thought I'd share some of my first attempts at night photography... These were taken from Capertee Valley, not far outside Lithgow...

I'm certainly no seasoned pro, but I'm pretty happy with the results for a first attempt..

These were taken using a friend's Cannon 50D... I'm not sure what lens, just the standard kit lens it came with, I guess ..lol... Unsure of what other settings (ISO, exposure, etc), I pretty much just played around with the settings until I got something that looked good... I think most of the exposures were around 30 seconds, and ISO of 1600... Unfortunately, it was a full moon night, so most of the stars are drowned out, so I tried to make do with what I had...

Thanks for looking
Davin

I quite like the spooky feel you have to 1 & 3 and the blue wash over the images The moon worked quite well for you, or rather you used it quite well I think, considering the circumstances and your first night shots

Thanks Roger., glad you like them..

The foreground areas were 'painted' with a torch (Celestron Powertank to be specific), as it turned out, the LED's gave the pics the blue tinge and spooky feel... I should add that these weren't edited or shopped at all, pretty much sent straight to my phone from the SD card and posted from there... I was going to try and tone down the blue a bit, but the more I looked at them, the more I liked it... Hehehe I personally like the tracks in the frost around the scope in the first one, kinda adds to the cold feel or something I guess

Loving the Clouds photo especially.
Moonlight is fun to work with and u can do much at 400ISO at max aperture and between 20-30seconds. And a handheld flash or widebeam torch for foregrounds as required.
I enjoy photography when the moon comes out :-)

Yes the blue, frost, and tracks around the scope sure make it feel like a cold winter night
