First Image test of Field De-Rotator Setup NGC 5139

Omega Centauri Globular Star Cluster NGC 5139

The Field De-Rotator Setup seems to work ok, so next is to push it to even longer exposures then add an autoguider setup.

5 x 90 sec subs at iso 800
5 x 60 sec subs at iso 800
5 x 15 sec subs at iso 800
12” Meade LX200 at f6.3 (Field De-rotated alt/az, Unguided setup)
Sony Nex-3 camera
Processed with DeepSkyStacker, Startools and Gimp

Beautiful, Wayne.

Why keep the short subs at ISO 800 too?

Great start!
Well done...
I've used various Meade SCT's in the past in Alt-Az mode.
PHD did a good job for me guiding (for spectroscopy) but I never used a combination of guiding AND de-rotation....
That may require some ingenuity....possibly a separate guide scope instead of trying to fit an OAG onto the de-rotator?? Don't know, but I wish you well.
