Tarantula Nebula N2070 - Wide Field

Geeday everyone,

here's an image I did recently of the Tarantula Nebula in Dorados. Notice the large number of fainter red stars (some possibly infra-red) dominating the upper right side of the image. These are stars of the LMC galaxy.

It's 6 x 4 minute exposures @ ISO-200 with the modified Canon 300D on the 12-inch f/5 GSO telescope using the Baader Coma Corrector. Image is handguided with 4.5" guidescope. Images are dark-subtracted, flat fielded, offset adjusted with IRIS. Processing in PS.

Gee doesnt the Ha modification make a difference,a much more realistic colour to the nebulosity (and much more of it too)

Very nice Paul. The purple/red is the true colours? mine came out brown/green or do i need so sort of filter?

Thanks EztStyles, That's a good question - I can't say for sure that it is true colours. I tend to balance the colours based on the colours of the stars I can see in the image. My theory being that if the star colours look right then the rest of the image should be reasonably balanced.

It's a bit different seeing nebula in this purple/red colour - we are all so used to seeing nebulae appear as pure red colours from film images.

Keep in mind my camera is a modded Canon 300D, so it does see colours different than a stock camera.
