Cheers! I'm not sure its a fair trade us having Mars and Saturn under 30 degrees with Saturn scraping 20 lol Your Jupiter was still well over 30 degrees. I think you have the better deal by quite some distance.
Not sure 30.5 counts as well over 30, at least for those of us in the southern half of Oz
Beautiful capture Stuart...may I ask what settings you're using? I have the same cam, just haven't had much practice with Jupiter being disappointingly low. Mars is up next

Thanks! Oh well, I'd still take Jup at 30.5 over Saturn at 20. I'm using fairly low gain with the QHY as it gets pretty noisy over 50% for Jupiter with 3 min captures and always leave gamma at default. Frame rates are usually 60-70fps with the colour cam and 80-90 with the mono.
I've not tried Mars yet so thats new ground for me with the QHY as I was using the DFK last time Mars was on show.
Remarkable image Stuart, very impressive and inspiring for a 10" and QHY5L, i have same gear also, have only used the camera once so far and my juup is discraceful in comparison Conditions the lack of understanding the camera, so far, also interested if yours is a One Shot Color or a Mono, I have the OSC and having a difficult time with one aspect of it, appreciation in advance for reply,,,

Thanks Acarleton & Rob! I have both mono and colour QHY cams though this image was taken with the colour cam. I often combine the cams rather than use RGB filters and this worked very well on Saturn last year but the mono has not given me much extra on Jupiter so I've mainly used the colour cam especially for producing animations.
The QHY is much more sensitive compared to my DFK cam and this makes a big difference on Saturn but I don't think there is a huge difference on Jupiter apart from the superior frame rate of the QHY which helps in poor seeing. I must say the mono QHY is great on lunar and I've got some images to post up from the same night as this Jupiter shot.
Damian Peach has remarked that he considers the QHY5L-II & ZWO ASI120 cams (both have same sensor) to be the leading planetary cams available.
You guys are getting good views of Jupiter, while we're getting Mars and Saturn. A fair trade, I say.
