Running Chicken & friends, mosaic.
Hi,
I was going through some data from 2013 and realised I had enough to do a mosaic of IC 2948, IC 2944 Running Chicken Nebula, Gum 39 & Gum 41.
There is three panels, and quite a few wedges of sky I had to blend in,
Anyway, here's the final result.
8” F/4 astrograph , baader type coma corrector,. HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D.
Panels stacked in Deep Sky Stacker.
Panels stitched in Microsoft ICE.
Processed in Photoshop 7.
Cheers,
Justin.

I'm shocked at the amount of red you got with an unmodded DSLR. Well done.

Nice mosaic Justin, the chicken is one of my favourites.
I still think that 1100D is odd. Unless the cooling makes it more red sensitive...? My Pentax K-x loses red sensitivity in the heat.

I've got two 1100D's and the both perform the same, it's all down to hard graft in PS.

Yep, all to taste.
I know most like more red, but this seems to make the nebulae very flat, when I try to do this.

I'm still using the unmodded 1100D, dark skies help but it's mostly plugging away in photo shop.
Cheers,
Justin.
