Just Rigel

Now for something completely different. With all the gems in the immediate vicinity, why would anyone want to just shoot a star? Well I used Rigel as an alignment star so thought while I was there I may as well take a piccy. So here it is, just Rigel.

SW 120mm f5 achro refractor, Pentax K-x, Baader Semi-APO filter, single 4 minute sub at ISO 400. Processed in CS5.

Maybe next time I'll shoot just Betelgeuse.

Thanks Jo. I must see your With head neb! That one is way too faint for my unmodded setup.

I love Rigel. I have found when doing visual with my old 12", I could use it as a simple test of seeing. The clearer that it's little companion is visible, better the seeing.
It would be nice to see the companion in your shot, maybe shorter subs may bring it out?

I'll see what I can do next time I get a clear shot.

Malcolm
I think my focal length at PF is much too short for that Malcolm. a 5 inch f5 refractor at prime has a similar field of view to high power binoculars.
