A new aussie site

Just want to congratulate Stu for launching a new aussie site/forum, South Celestial Pole.

Some old and familiar names and faces there. The more aussie sites the better.

It's a shame to see some anti-establishment/anti-IIS sentiment, but I guess that's to be expected in the early days. I'm sure it'll settle in to be a nice place to be.

And no, i'm not worried. I'm all for more aussie sites. Some people will find what they want at SCP, some will find it here, and some will find it at both.

Congrats again and good luck with the site Stu!

It seems to be a site for one to vent ones spleen, but it is also good to have another Aussie Amateur Astronomy

I must say I am very impressed at your calmness under fire! You have had both barrels shot at you. You have not shot back.

Well done and I hope you can stay there and have some larrikan fun with us.

Thanks Davo
Snake Valley was an interesting experience more than anything seeing how people are in real life as compared to their online persona. Its so easy for communications to become skewed in the online world.

It was totally expected and all part of the fun
Now that the formalities are out of the way and everyone knows where they stand I will for the first time be able to defend myself on a level playing field without one hand tied behind my back

If anyone is up for a laugh check out the "welcome Starkler" thread over there

That was funny.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for all the kind and interesting comments

Sorry I didn't acknowledge this thread for a while I haven't logged on much the last few weeks as I've been busy with work. Going to the UK next week, visting new born babies this week, it's all happening in stu-land.

Yes Geoff you can defend yourself but hopefully no one will attack you, well maybe one or two (that dob of yours always sticks it's head in sct threads ). I knew that if I set up a site that there would be all kinds of people logging on and some of them may not agree with each other. That's just the way it goes, not for me to get involved in. At least there is a sin bin where you can cool off , not that anyone has ever been sent there. Early days yet though...

I have always like IIS and will continue to post here. I don't even really concider scp to be my site, strange as that might sound.

Must go walk the dog now she keeps giving me hints...

I must have a reputation for some reason.

I was a member in SCP for only 10 minutes and got a special title!

Yeah ... good to have more Aussie astro sites to visit...

although it was a little too aggro for me. Bit like walking into a bar full of telescope wielding Chopper Reads!!!!

testosterone dripping off the dome walls over there

I'll still drop in from time to time, though.

If you can only express yourself by using expletives, it's one site that will stay off my list.

Good to see another Aussie site Stu.

I certainly wouldn't recommend it for the faint-hearted.

Not really my type of site but each to their own.

Choice is almost always a good thing...nice work in getting it set up all involved!

It will be interesting to see what kind of information and discussions become available as people get settled in and focused on astronomy stuff...

However, I heartily agree with some of the earlier posts...to date at least, it is not for the "faint hearted"...not sure if it is for me yet but I will keep an eye on it for a while at least...
