Reprocessed: Tarantula Nebula NGC2070 - comparison question

I did a reprocess and attached it to my original message: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=113114

However, I'm curious as to which one is better? The first one appears to give more detail in the core of the nebula (the other colour(s)), while the second one obviously enhances the stars and the other nebula wisps.

G'day Chris,

I really like the way you've processed this image I just wonder if the stars look a bit soft?

I hope you don't mind but I had a bit of a fiddle and sharpened them up to my liking, what do you reckon?

Cheers
Jo

First image, Sharpened.

Ah, I think I've worked it out a way to do something similar using a smart sharpen filter. I'll have to mess around more to see what I can achieve.

Using Nebulosity3 I did some star tightening, and a bit of unsharp mask, and some slight colour balance.

Cheers
Jo

Thanks. It seems every time I touch these images there's more to do or find or change or...
