Venus 20th September - UV, 12" Dob, DSLR

I recently purchased a full spectrum modified Canon EOS 600D and today received in the mail a Baader 1.25" U Filter (UV pass).

Having already seen Ivan's (lepton3) fantastic work (eg here: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=112007 ) I couldn't wait to see what my camera setup could do.

Here is a stack of about 700 frames of video taken using the modified Canon EOS 600D, a 5x Powermate, the Baader U filter, and a 12" Sky Watcher Goto Dobsonian, manually tracked.
I shot with Auto White Balance and Auto picture style, and I've reproduced the colour as seen by the camera.
Also attached is a single video frame.

Thanks for looking,

Tom

Holy cow Tom, is there nothing you can't do with a DSLR?!

Fantastic result.

Thanks Ivan - it's the DSLR, not me! I am blown away by what today's technology can bring to the amateur. Your images have inspired me to push my boundaries ever farther.

Cheers,

Tom

Nice work Tom!

I have been wondering what a modded camera with a filter would result in.

Cheers,

Russ

Wonderful result Tom! It has opened my eyes up to the DSLR capabilities for this sort of object.

Great Tom! If only I could get anything half as good...

I have a Canon 600D. I should give it a try.
