First image after a break months break, good time to have one too, the weather has been lousy!!
This image is a portion of the SMC that will hopefully become part of a mosaic of the whole SMC. Decided to go for 5 minute subs at ISO 1600, total of one hour per section.
Hope it all works out!!
Equipment.
8" Newtonian astrograph f/4. on HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.
Unmodded canon 1100D, baader coma corrector type 3.
12 x 5 minute subs at ISO 1600, stacked in DSS, processed in PS7.
Looks like you're off to a good start, Justin! 47tuc looks a bit white clipped though? I look forward to seeing the mosaic progress. How many panels are you aiming for?

Thanks Dave!
NGC 362 ( 47 Tuc is about 3 degree's west.)looks pretty well the same in a single unprocessed frame. It's quite small and condensed, I suppose in hindsight some shorter exposures would have helped.
12 frames would be minimum to cover the SMC, but it will probably be twice that as I usually underestimate these things.
Nice image. These nebulae always come out blue in my unmodded canon - how did you get them to be red? Is that the way they came out or did you process them to change the colour? I do get red nebulae - but not these ones.

Thanks Tony!
Yep, I cheated using photo shop. In hue and saturation I selected cyan and changed the hue till I had some red.
It's actually incorrect to have NGC 346 all red, there's some green/blue in it.
But I wanted it red, a personal choice, just think it looks better.
