Hi Brad

OMG – what an absolutely superb image - best pooh brown colours I have ever seen. The delicate, gossamer like detail is quite extraordinary, a testimony to superb optics, set up skills, guiding, capturing and expert processing.

Cheers

Dennis

That's an amazing shot, some of the stuff in here is really, well, amazing .. I particularly like how there is just the one star flaring out, is there any particular reason just that star has a pronounced flare like that? It doesn't look any brighter then the others or anything, is it something particular you've done to specifically achieve that or is that just the way it came out?

Hi,

The star is know as Eta Carinae and contains the famous Homunculus Nebula.

With such long exposures Eta Carinae makes for a very big bright ugly star. So what I did was subtract it out and replace it with some very short exposures trying to capture the Homunculus. My job was okay but not the best.

Eddie Trimarchi did a much better job at capturing it his image.

Hope this helps,
Brad Moore

Hi Iceman,

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. It's great how you can take the raw data and mix it around so much!

Cheers,
Brad
