HFG1 region

Hi Everyone,

I've been imaging over the summer (when thunderstorms and wildfires permit) but most I my images have been some of the more boring vdB objects. I've put them on my website but not posted them here. I didn't want to clutter up this site with images of uninteresting objects.

Here is an image I'm excited about however. This is HFG1, a very very faint
planetary nebula which has a HII tail or "wake". This image needs more time but I must move on, so I'll update the image as data comes in.

HFG1 has a prominent bow shock that is readily seen in the image. Also, the
planetary nebula Abell 6 is in the FOV.

The image is narrowband HOO, but star colors are RGB. Some of the stars look a little over saturated and I'm working on that, so bear with me.

This image was taken with ,of course, the venerable Honders. I sure have
enjoyed this scope.

-Tom

I can see why you are excited about it. What a unique object. Nicely imaged and its great to see an image from you again. I was wondering what you'd been up to!

Greg.

I've been imaging, just nothing of interest. I'm trying to finish the vdB catalog and its been slow going. I check into IIS from time to time. Everyone has been doing some impressive imaging!!

Wow, what an amazing little blighter that is Having 12" at F3.8 is quite handy at times huh?

You sound like your vdB imaging is a bit of a fetish, like an addiction ...bloody cool results

Thanks everyone. Hopefully some better vdB objects coming this Autumn (your Spring). Right now we are in the middle of wildfire season and the whole western US is burning -- but you guys in Oz sort of know what that's like, unfortunately.

Cheers,
Tom
