A few days have passed since I shot this avi, and work intervened. The slave did the final touches last night.
OK it isn't anywhere near the Birds fantastic image, but it shows progress from the first one I posted, so I/we are happy.
10" f5 newt, with 5x Powermate (the file header says 2.5x but the image scale makes me think 5x).
ToUcam at 10fps, 60 second burst. Registax etc.
Gotta get some good seeing soon. This was about 7/10 perhaps.

Great cloud detail, thats a huge shadow! Well done Gary!
Jupiter 2 software puts Io shadow starting to transit at about 10pm on that night - is this the time when the image was taken Gary?
Edit: Just realised the difference in time zones hows about midnight NZ time?

Thanks guys,
yes I believe it is Io. For some reason all I have been able to view/image at present is the "bland" side. Can't wait for the GRS, and a few transits/shadows.
Good to be able to hone the skills though, and it is remarkable how quickly one forgets.

Shadow is still there Ving, you need to turn up the brightness on your screen. I suggest that you go to a gamma site to set up your monitor. I can see the shadow fine.
Gamma adjusts will make the limb darker, and you see less of the planet. Everyone's monitors are different these days (and nobody really bothers to set for "correct" gamma).
I know around here that I have 4 computers, and they all show a different image :-)
Anyway, Gary - that's a very nice image! I saw that NZ was getting clear weather for a change, hope more of it comes your way. For me, the gamma adjusted image from RR looks a bit nicer but you lose some of the edge.
Hi Guys,
back again, been busy.
Bird. The old "Do I darken, or don't I" problem.
In keeping with how I see it through the eyepiece I leave it with a hard limb.
I do note that many don't, and maximize the central detail at the expense of the limb. Personal preference I suppose.
More practice needed, whatever way you look at it. This weather cannot last so I may as well make hay...................
