Thanks Brian Venus was captured while the Sun was still up and the seeing was relatively good. I stacked about 400 frames of video in Registax, aligned the RGB channels because of the atmospheric chromatic aberration, and applied successive unsharp masks in Photoshop 7. Attached is a single video frame of both planets.

Have you got any tips on minimising the chromatic aberrations? My planetary stuff suffers a lot.

Super smooth Venus. I have thought about having a try at it as i see it shining brightly in the evening sky ( whenever the clouds part), might give it a go

Thankyou for the comments everyone and thankyou for the honour of IOTW Mike.

I am glad I recorded in colour because it looks like I managed to get that creamy-yellow colour you see in some space images.

John all shots were with the Canon EOS 600D. The Venus image was with a 1.4x and a 2x telesconverter and a 5x Powermate. I don't normally shoot with all that magnification, normally just the 5x. The image you see is 100% size from the sensor.

Russell, at capture stage the only ways to reduce the chromatic aberration is to image as high above the horizon as possible, and although it doesn't affect the actual displacement of colours, shooting in Landscape Picture Mode accentuates the aberration.

In processing I rely on Registax to detect and fix the RGB alignment. Sometimes I will move the channel layers myself in PS. In this image the red channel was moved up 16 pixels, and the blue channel was moved down 22 pixels, by Registax.
