NGC6888 - Crescent Nebula NB bi-colour

This data was sitting around for a while until somebody on the PI forum asked about colourizing NB bi-colour data so I used it as an example.

Would have been nice to have better data (at the time we were having guiding issues and doing short NB subs) and also some RGB stars. Still, it's a cool object and interesting at long focal length.

Just a little question... if you call 30minute subs short, what is a long sub!?

Thanks, Ray! I used the brightness of the Ha and Oiii to modulate the hue. Just a cheap trick really but I like the effect on some bi-colour images.

Thanks, Scotty. It was the 600 sec subs that didn't add a lot of SNR. For a while we had guiding problems (turns out that encoders aren't always as wonderful as you would hope.)

Ta, Paul! It gets to 24 degrees above the horizon here in Brisneyland which is not conducive to good imaging. Even worse for you. Ozstronomer and a few others have managed decent captures from SE Qld. It's reasonably bright in Ha but the Oiii shell is quite dim.

...those thin bright worms are trying veeery hard to reveal themselves to me buuut you have skiiiiirted the edge of over waveletted/sharpened veeery nicely Ricki

A delightful image and splendid colours Rick; it is hard to believe that this data comes only from 2 filters.

Your Colour Mask script is clearly a very effective tool in manipulating colours and it should be included in the standard scripts in PI

Thanks, Suavi. I have some changes to make to the script before Juan will bless it. I should get them done but I know it's going to make additional work for Warren Keller who is including ColorMask in his PI book.
