Moon-Jupiter-Pleiades-Venus-Aldebaran conjunction: Jun 17th & 18th

Hi all,

I just noticed in Stellarium that there's a nice conjunction between the Moon, Jupiter, Pleiades, Venus, and Aldebaran on Sunday 17th June and Monday 18th June in the early morning this weekend. I've attached screen shots from Stellarium for 6 am in Brisbane.

Fairly low on the horizon, so it'd be a good opportunity for the landscapers and wide fielders.

Cheers,

Dave

I second that thanks.

This morning I was walking towards the beach glancing toward the moon and Jupiter occasionaly. About 15 minutes into the walk I saw a very bright "star" and my Andriod phone indicated it was Venus. I remember thinking the Moon should be much closer tomorrow morning.

This evening I did a quick search and this thread came up and I read that Pleiades is in the mix too.

Great stuff! I will certainly need to get out my camera tomorrow morning.

Regards,
Pieter

Amazing work guys, that scene must have looked stunning

I had every intention of capturing this... I'd even figured out an amazing location to shoot it from that would have lined up Lake Moogerah, the mountains, and the conjunction perfectly.

However, I was in Leyburn the previous evening where the temps dropped down to something ridiculous. By 4 am, my car, table, tripod legs, everything outside was completely covered in a layer of frost. I was sleeping in the car under three doonahs + thermals + jumpers freezing my behind, so I knew there was no way I'd be capturing it
