Canon HD Video Capabilities

Hi Guys, just a question on HD Video capabilities on a Canon mark 11 or 111.
can the video be recorded through any lens that is attached to the camera, or are there limitations on this procedure.

Would be interested in the answers, thanks in advance.

Someone on here was using it to try and do some basic planteary imaging on a scope i think - so I'd imagine no limitation (none i've found so far anyway!).

Here it is - it was a 1000D but the same should still hold true.

Edit - Sorry Leon - Chris wasn't using the HD Video feature to do planetary - Although I'm pretty sure there are other threads where people have tried with some success

Will work for Planetary, and widefield night sky vista's, but not great for DSO's Leon. The frame rate won't be slow enough, and by frame rate for DSO's I mean about 2+ seconds each frame.

I believe it can - it works on my 550D, but that has the custom firmware http://magiclantern.wikia.com/ running on it.

The magic lantern firmware allows shooting video with a frame rate of 4 - i.e. 1 quarter of a second for each frame.

It also has a built in intervalometer, so you could set the exposure for 2 seconds, and take a shot every 2.5 seconds.

I have used Magic Lantern on my 600D to get 4fps at 1/4sec exposures. Examples from these threads:
