I just modded my 1100D, gary honis has all the info for modding 450 ect http://ghonis2.ho8.com/rebelmod450d17.html . Lol if it was an 1100D i would do it for you, If you google it up you should find a ton of info. The 20d is getting long in the tooth maybe you should look at a 550/600, would probably pay to do some homework on specs and noise. I don't know of anyone doing it in Australia not to say there isn't, the problem i think is tearing cables and know one wants to risk replacing camera or trying to source parts. Theres also alot of fragile parts and a quick slip with a screw drive and is lights out for good, if that's not enough cracking a filter will set you back $100+ so its a real turn off for modders to doing this as a small biz. Google it up anyhow and ring around, i herd something about cannon service centers being able to do it also, though this could be just talk. Also I would think any camera repair shop should be able to do it, if they can't well i wouldn't be taking any camera to them hahah. Its really going to pay to shop around as the cost will be alot from some places.

modding camera

after modding my own 450d, I can say
1. use static protection i.e anti static mat
2. wear gloves and make sure the sensor is kept rigorously clean and free from dust
3. make sure all connections are sound before putting case back on
4. G.Honis web pages are excellent resource for modder's
Good luck
Graham

Thats the spirit lol you will probably be modding that 500D once your done this. I used zip lock bags for parts, do this with the sensor, cling wrap left weird marks on mine. It's pretty easy do do just get a #000 and #00 phillips and a set of jewelers from the $2 shop. I used the jewelers pointed driver instead of tooth pricks for cables, also just have some leans cleaner pens about for last minute dust.
