Dates for 2009 Astro Camps?
Hi everybody,
Too many years I find out too late the dates and venues of various astro camps I would have dearly loved to attend. This year I want to stick some into iCal so I can plan my itinery well in advance. If people know when and where their local astro camps are planned for, could they please put the dates and location in this thread?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Brian.

The South Pacific Star Party is definitely one to go to. It is a bit later this year (pack your woollies, and order your freezer suits in advance from GTB Owl), running from 22-24 May 2009.

Thanks for the responses so far, everybody. Seems like I'm not the only star-party bridesmaid. (I hope some of these coincide with Tassie school holidays. It would be nice to drag the brood along. Else I'll make it on my own. Win-win.)
Any more???

We're still working out exact dates for the 2 x "Barambah" Dark Sky Camps (SE Qld area), we'll amend / add exact dates when they've been finalised but they should be something like:
Autumn Camp - Fri 24th to Sun 26th April 2009
(Could yet change significantly yet, dependent on venue issues. Worst case scenario we may hold this camp at an alternative venue instead of holding it at the Barambah E.E.C. New moon is Anzac Day, Sat 25th April )
Spring Camp - Fri 18th to Wed 23rd September 2009
(These dates should be pretty reliable. Sat 19th is the start of the Qld school holidays, new moon is Friday the 18th.).

Dates for the Spring 2009 Dark Sky Camp have been finalised, apologies for the delay.
Yes, the Camp will again be held at the same great location, ie the Barambah E.E.C. located about 2 to 2.5 hours NNW of Brisbane.
(It's approx 40km's NNE of Camp Duckadang as the crow flies, deep in the largely unpopulated wilds SW of Gympie)
The Camp will be open for 5 days / 4 nights from Thursday the 23rd of April through to Monday the 27th - with New Moon falling right in between on Saturday the 25th, aka Anzac Day.
www.darkskycamp.org.au will be updated with details asap (as soon as someone has a day of work to do it)

ASWA Autumn AStrocamp 2009
ASWA's Autumn Astrocamp for 2009 went off with a bang last weekend. Almost 50 people attended the camp at Dryandra for a superb evening of viewing on the Friday night. I hit the hay around 4am, but some folks stayed on the field to watch the sun come up! Good thing they did as after some great presentations and talks on Saturday, and solar viewing in the afternoon, it clouded over and all we were left with on Saturday night was sucker holes.
Still, a great camp was had by all.
Cheers,
HilB...
