Talking How to fit a Bintel Crayford to a SkyWatcher?

Oh dear!!!

I recently purchased a BinTel 2" Crayford focuser to replace the standard R&P that comes with the SkyWatcher. I have this afternoon discovered a flaw in my master plan however....

The SkyWatcher has a very large hole with the screws spaced at 85mm, while the Crayford has 70mm between the holes.

Is there any form of "adapter plate" available for these, or am I going to have to bodgy up something that looks awlful?

Any ideas would be most greatfully accepted.

I believe Bintel are actually in the process of producing an adaptor that will allow their crayfords to be fitted to Skywatcher/Saxon scopes.

I was in chatting to the guys at their Melbourne shop last weekend and they told me that the adaptors were being anodised as we spoke and should be available soon.

I asked because I have a Saxon 10" Newt and want to replace the stock focuser.

Thumbs up

Stephen

Thanks for the lead. I have e-mailed Don at Bintel to ask for availability and pricing.

Now, if they could just make an adapter for the crayford to attach it to the AccuFocuser (without the death of a perfectly good oil filter) and I would be completely happy!

........but it would be a good idea for someone to market a retrofit kit for Accufocuser --> crayford.

Yep, just need to go to Repco or Bursons and buy a couple of hundred Petrol Filters, cut the end off and post them out.

$50 each should do Lots of labour involved making these adaptors!

Talking Good news - adapter available!

Good news all.

I spoke this morning with Roger Davis from BinTel in Melbourne. He is making the adapters as a private job. I have spoken with him this morning, and they will be available in two weeks. The price is very reasonable, so if you are considering upgrading, suggest you give him a call.

Very nice Daniel. I wish I was mechanically minded. Oh well, have posted off my cheque this afternoon, so in about 2 weeks will have a shinny new adapter from Roger - cant wait.

Now, must go look at some petrol filters....
