* IceInSpace Calendar Competition for 2015!
It's on again! Last year's Astronomy Calendar Competition was a huge success, with over 250 entries, 70 fantastic photographers, over 1100 votes cast and over 3000 calendars sold (500 via IceInSpace!), so we're running the competition again for 2015.
The
IceInSpace Astronomy Calendar for 2015 will again be made up of images captured by and chosen by the IceInSpace community!
Yes - you can submit your images for the chance to appear in the calendar, and you get to vote for the final images that will make up the calendar!

* CWAS David Malin Awards for 2014
At IceInSpace, we love the annual
CWAS David Malin Awards.
It's the premier astrophotography competition in Australia, and always challenges our best talent to step outside the ordinary and produce something extraordinary in a chance to win some fantastic prizes offered by Canon Australia. Check out the winning entries in previous David Malin Awards on the
CWAS site.
The 2014 DMA's have just been announced, and there's a few nice twists this year. The animated sequences section now has separate categories for scientific and aesthetic animations, and the open theme this year is all about "The Moon" - not just Moon in the landscape, but something unique and different. I'm really looking forward to seeing how creative the community can be and see what they come up with.

* IISAC2014 Wrap!
IISAC2014 was held in the Hunter Valley just 2 weeks ago now, and almost 100 people enjoyed the beautiful weather and clear skies of the IceInSpace AstroCamp.
We had a bit of everything - 2 wonderful clear nights, some massive storms, a professional laser light show and more.
Check out the

IISAC2015 is currently planned for March 19-21, 2015. Keep an eye on the
IISAC page for updates and more information later in the year.
* Total Lunar Eclipse Wrap
On the 15th April 2014, Australia had our first total lunar eclipse in 2.5 years!
Unfortunately for most of the east coast of Australia, it was cloudy (my location included!), but there were some fantastic shots captured by IceInSpace members around the country and the world.

* Partial Solar Eclipse Wrap
A couple of weeks ago we had a partial solar eclipse in Australia, visible at Sunset. Unfortunately it was (again) cloudy for me, but congratulations go out to IceInSpace Members, Andrew Wall and Stephen Mudge for capturing some fantastic images of the partial eclipse and having them featured on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) site.

Picture #2: Brisbane Sunset Moon is by Stephen Mudge taken from Brisbane which made APOD on the 1st May.
