IIS Beanie for Winter!

Hi all

A few months ago, some people expressed interest in wanting to purchase an IIS-embroidered beanie, to keep the noggin' warm during cold winter observing nights.

Well I'd like to get an idea on numbers, as it makes a big difference to the final cost.

So please, express your interest by voting in the poll. The poll is non-binding of course, but don't vote yes if you don't intend on buying one.

When/if there is sufficient interest, i'll put the order in and create a booking/order form. I'd like to get them done in time for SPSP (I can bring them along) so vote now!

I don't have a picture of how it will look, but if you use your imagination, you will see a black beanie with the white/red/white IceInSpace logo embroidered on the front.

The price is unknown at the moment, but would be in the vicinity of $25-$30. They are good quality.

I'll take 3...especially if they will be available at SPSP.

Even if they are not ready then I'll still take 3...

My head is really big and will stretch them out quickly...

No, really I'll need one for me a my two sons...

I would have been interested if I didn't already have one of my astro club's beanies (ASWA)

So I voted "No Thanks" because I only have one head

You bet! It will hopefully become standard night ware at the Qld Astrofest this year. At least we can hope to get Dennis out of his silver poncho

I put myself down for one but may take 2 if the quality and physical appearance is acceptable to HRH Liz.

No in fairness I think Ving was actually referring to the scientifically proven fact that Tasmanians have two heads

Of course this is only a hypothesis

Not to get far off base but I think your response (needing to explain it) is even funnier than Ving's original post...

And to bring it back on topic...yes Mike, I will take 3 for certain...

Hate to be a pain Mike but can you describe the beanie material a bit more, ie most beanies I've seen are made of somewhat open weave wool, I find they tend to let some cold air through.

By means of comparison I have one made of a "solid" closed weave synthetic material that is absolutely windproof but still retains a bit of stretch to fit snugly - ironically I bought this at 'Woolies'.

If the beanies are good and warm (which I'm sure most folks here will need geographically speaking) then I'll probably be in for 2 or 3.
