I have a question for anyone who has tried a digtal camera (not slr) piggybacked to an ep. Should I use a really low mag ep like 7X (that I would get with a WO 52mm camera ep) on my short tuube refractor or can I get away with a 20mm ep giving a mag of 16X and FOV of about 3 degrees?

I do not want to photo planets but DSO's - I know I am not going to get great results - but I want to start basic. thankyou
The attached were done on a 2000mm focal length LX90 using eyepiece projection with a 32mm eyepiece coupled to the camera lens, so yes it can be done, but you are going to need to barlow if you want DSOs on a short tube refractor, or use a lower focal length eyepiece (6-9mm?). You will also likely need to stack a lot of frames due to limited exposure times.
If I am going to try some images with a non-slr digital camera - do I need to shoot thru an ep, or can I hook my camera straight up to the telescope?
i'd appreciate any advice, thankyou
