How to remove car wax from alt bearing

Hi, I need some help. I used Turtle wax on my alt bearings of my dob, to give it a smoother feel.
Unfortunately the movement is now too slippery and the scope won't hold position.
How do I strip off the wax without causing damage to the laminate?

Thanks, John.

There are some commercial car wax removers - you can Google them - or just use a dishwashing detergent. Usually people quote the Dawn brand detergent in car detailing forums but I'm not sure if that's available in Aus - any regular brand should do. You dilute it in water, of course!

If it's still too stiff once the wax is removed, try a 'solid' teflon lubricating stick instead as it can be applied more sparingly than car wax, e.g. Goss Dri Lube.

Just use Metho or Mineral Turps on a cloth and it will work a treat.

Metho does clean up pretty well .. tried a lot of products to loosen up alt movement .. sailcoat.. turtle wax and a few others the best was always a very slight spray on a rag and wipe of mr sheen purple bottle.. that little guy does great work.

Just never use Mr Sheen on a motorcycle seat.

If you do, it will only ever be once...
