5 minute subs

I took some 5 minute subs of B33 last night through my unmodified Canon 350d and the images appeared almost white washed, is this normal before applying darks, flats etc

Cheers

Whitewashed? I bet you more "orange washed" right?

You will need a light pollution filter. There are a number of recent threads about the IDAS LPS filters which show comparative images. The ones I took were with an unmodified 350D also.

Actually they weren't as bad as I thought although LP is fairly apparent early as B33 rose is the sky the affect of LP progressively deminished. I'll have to have another go early morning when over the zenith to get an improved image.

Trev, With that camera I did 5min subs from home (light pollution city) and got white/orange images that were extremely hard to edit.. I did 10 minute subs from a dark site and got nothing like that at all...

A light pollution filter is what you need.

If I got my wires crossed right, IDAS LPS filter would do much better in LP with a UV/IR mod, although with only a UV/IR mod in less LP skies, imaging would be better.
